How LEAP fills the gap
We at NELTAS offer comprehensive preparation in English language and skill development with a structured English language learning pathway that will support your child in the process of reaching his or her full potential in a stimulating and safe environment.
Our courses replace the one step telling approach of formal classroom instruction with systematically designed step led procedures based on experiential learning. Thus the courses not only enable learners to communicate in daily situations with the language learned but also helps them gain a good understanding of how the language works (mechanics of language), so that they can use it with articulation, accuracy and confidence.
How LEAP will help my child?
LEAP offers authentic opportunities to develop LSRW skills with real life situations. It uses innovative methods to encourage learners to communicate as much English as possible while speaking and writing. Thus it will not only stimulate the language proficiency of your child but will also lead to an overall personality development by boosting their writing skills, presentation skills, organization and articulation of thought.
What are the teaching methodologies?
LEAP employs experiential methodology of learning to ensure that language learning is a fun and educational experience. The mode of classroom instruction is interactive emphasizing on the development of LSRW skills in real world context.
Is there is a difference between Grammar classes and LEAP? My child always scores well in Grammar, then why should he/she join LEAP?
There is a drastic difference between Grammar classes and LEAP, indeed there are no comparisons. It is a common misconception that by learning Grammar, one can effectively communicate in English. A mastery of basic grammar is definitely a necessary condition for academic success but it doesn’t equip the students with an ability to comprehend and communicate effectively in English. LEAP bridges this gap and provides opportunities to learners to master their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
How will you assess the performance of my child?
The assessment process at NELTAS goes beyond just knowledge recall and emphasizes other skills like a student's ability to use and apply knowledge appropriately, to handle information and use it to solve problems, and acquire experimental and investigative skills. It is the interplay between the various forms of assessment (formative, diagnostic, summative) and includes written and oral tests, assignments, projects and practical assessment like group discussion or presentation.
Is this course for NELTAS ECAT?
LEAP is not a course designed specifically for NELTAS Assessment. LEAP curriculum has a greater outreach and goes beyond the application of reading comprehension strategies, vocabulary and English usage and formal and functional grammar. However the course shall definitely enable the students to apply the language concepts better in any kind of language assessment.
What is the syllabus of LEAP?
LEAP focuses on the development of all four skills i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking as charted by curriculum frameworks at national and international level.
Who are the teachers?
The teachers at NELTAS are trainers who don’t adopt a ‘one step telling’ approach of formal classroom instruction but an interactive approach to make learning fun. They are experts in language and teaching methodologies, with experience that is blended with enthusiasm and passion for experiential learning.
